Men (and Women) at Work: band’s current lineup has two women

Men (and Women) at Work

With three performances scheduled in Brazil in February 2024 (Rio de Janeiro – 02/17, Curitiba – 02/20 and São Paulo – 02/24), the band Men At Work features two women in its current lineup: Guatemalan saxophonist and keyboard player Scheila Gonzalez and Peruvian singer Cecilia Noël, wife of Colin Hay, leader and founder of the group.

Both are part of Colin Hay‘s solo band, which also includes Cuban musicians San Miguel Pérez, on guitar and three, Yosmel Montejo, on bass and Jimmy Branly, on drums. In addition, of course, to the “Man At Work” himself, Colin Hay, on voice and guitar, who is also a frequent member of Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band, drummer for the Beatles.

In 2019, Colin Hay toured Europe (United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Italy) with this lineup, using the name Men At Work. The special show also toured the United States. After the shows in Brazil, they head to Chile, Colombia and Peru.

In the repertoire, great hits such as “Who Can It Be Now?”, “Down Under”, “Be Good Johnny”, “Overkill”, “It’s A Mistake” and “Everything I Need”, among other songs from the three studio albums by Men At Work, released in the first half of the 1980s. It is possible that some songs from Colin Hay‘s fifteen solo albums will also appear in the show, such as “Into My Life”, which was a big hit in Brazil in the early 1990s. This story was told in the documentary “Into My Life and the Brazilian Tours of Colin Hay and Men At Work”, directed by the creator of the website ColinHay.com.br, “Carlinhos” Rafael Pompeu, and available via the link: https://colinhay.com.br /intomylife.
