Cecilia Noël to release ‘Havana Rocks’

Cecilia Noël Havana Rocks (2014)

Recorded in Havana, New Album Delivers 80’s Rock Classics with A Latin Twist

The passionate Cecilia Noël returns with her newest album, HAVANA ROCKS, a Latin-infused collection of American classics recorded in Havana, Cuba (under special license from the US Government) with an all Cuban cast of musicians. The album is slated for a September 9, 2014 release. Together, Noël and crew combine elements of salsa, soul, jazz, funk, and Afro-Cuban music to deliver an infectious Latin take on 80’s classic rock ‘n roll hits.

The album includes covers of Devo’s “Whip It,” Gary Numan’s “Cars” and AC/DC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long,” along with hits from her husband Colin Hay’s 80’s hit machine Men At Work, Thin Lizzy, David Bowie, Van Halen, and more, all propelled by deep percussive grooves and Noël’s rich and appealing alto vocals. Marrying 80’s hits with Noël’s signature “salsoul” sound was a stroke of pure genius and the results are both deeply musical and just plain fun. In the words of Grammy winning pianist and producer Oscar Hernández: “Havana Rocks because Cecilia rocks!”
